Crane Merchandising Systems Quality Engineer in Williston, South Carolina
Safely perform root cause investigation and problem solving for internal and external quality issues. This position will interface directly with internal and external suppliers as well as customers to assure that quality concerns are fully understood and addressed.
Safety – Wear required safety equipment at all times; notifies Quality Manager if additional PPE is necessary.Inspect assigned work area daily for potential hazards and report to Quality Manager.Identify and drive correction of all hazards found. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Responsible for maintaining work station to 5S guidelines and following all plant and safety rules.Participate in TOPS program.
Quality – Perform Supplier audits, Internal System Audits and quality analysis as defined. Identify and communicate quality issues in assigned area. Support production with problem solving activities.
Delivery – Perform part evaluations and sorts in a timely manner.Notify Quality Manager or VSM immediately if there is a problem that will jeopardize the daily production rate.Maintain quality reports and records as required. Must be able to work overtime hours as business needs necessitate.
Cost – Perform Supplier Quality analysis. Provide suggestions for improvements and assist with implementation.
Standard Work & Cross Training – Perform training as required or instructed.Support the focus of continuous improvement through the application of CBS (Crane Business Systems) principles.Participate on (2) Kaizen events per year.Cross train on Quality Specialist and Quality Technician positions.
Teamwork – Attend and participate in shift huddles. Assist and supports Quality Manager in achieving department objectives and goals.Provide constructive feedback to Quality Manager and Management team.
Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management.
- A 4 year degree is required (Technical Degree preferred) and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
Perform FAI validation activities (issue, inspect, review, and approve or reject).
Use standard mechanical measuring devices (i.e.; calipers, micrometers, tape measure, and protractor).
Interpret specification instructions.
Collect and enter data into computer.
Perform analysis as required on nonconforming product and customer returns.
Conduct Internal System Audits per schedule.
Coordinate calibration of test equipment.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Basic shop math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and measurements.
Communicate clearly both written (email) and verbally with suppliers and Crane personnel on supplier issues.
Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.

Preferred Certification: ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or CQA (Certified Quality Auditor).
