Position Duties/Responsibilities

The Field Engineer - Construction Survey Technician reports directly to the Survey Engineer - Party Chief. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide Construction Survey support to Lead Survey Engineer

  • Support the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality and environmental programs

  • Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief with the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropiate methods of performing survey activities

  • Perform duties of a Rod Person and/or Instrument Person on a 2 or 3 person direct-hire survey crew

  • Utilize survey instruments in conjunction with Bechtel survey procedures

  • Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief in providing support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision

  • Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief develop and maintain survey data

  • Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief perform Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments

  • Support the administration of the survey work request program

  • Assist the Survey Engineer/Party Chief provide Civil project completion documentation including "As-Built" records

  • Assist in performing verifications of subcontract survey work

Successful candidate must be willing to:

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Work under time constraints and must be adaptable to changing conditions

  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required

Basic Qualifications

  • A recognized Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline coupled with work experience leading to a basic understanding of the technical knowledge described above, OR, specialized courses in construction management, survey, contract law or mathematics and work experience leading to a basic understanding of the technical knowledge described above.

  • Five (5) years minimum surveying experience

  • Three (3) years minimum industrial surveying experience

  • Demonstrated experience with Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels and GNSS survey systems.

  • Knowledge of data downloading.

  • Must have the legal right to work in the US

Preferred Skills

  • Survey CAD literate; experience with Survey CAD software a plus.

  • Intermediate level use of MicroSoft Word and Excel

Position will be located in Waynesboro, GA.
