University Health Care System LPN - Nonbedside in Augusta, Georgia
Under the supervision of the Practice Manager and the physicians, assists the physician in direct patient communication and care by working up with vital signs, history, special tests, preparing the exam rooms, chaperoning, scheduling appointments and tests, triage messages and phoning in prescriptions, checking in and out patients, and knowledge of, but not limited to, all clinical and clerical aspects of the medical office setting. Assists with training new MA's and monitors all other MAs work schedules while being watchful over flow of daily patient activity and schedules.
EducationGraduate of an accredited practical nurse program with knowledge and skills normally acquired through such a program.ExperienceCompletion of hospital and unit orientation program.Ability to perform nursing care as defined by licensure at a level normally acquired through one year general working experience as an LPN and/or at least six months experience in a physicians' office setting preferred.Successful completion of LPN exam.Basic CPR certification required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to apply practical nursing education including nursing knowledge of growth and development relevant to the ages of the patients served within a family medicine office setting. Requires considerable concentration and attention to detail in order to successfully perform within job standards.Substantial level of analytical ability required to apply knowledge base in the clinical setting, organize adolescents, adults and geriatrics according to the growth and development of the patients and promote optimal efficient operation of the physician office.The job requires initiative.Advanced level of interpersonal skills needed to communicate and interact with persons of all levels of education, culture, and economic background through oral and written communication.Must be familiar with governmental agencies which provide forms of assistance, i.e. Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, etc.Ability to use equipment associated with patient care. Ability to use personal computer, computer systems and other office equipment.Must have a philosophy of work that is compatible with that of the mission of the institution and a work ethic compatible with that of the Medical Director, Practice Manager and demands of the work area.Sufficient physical and psychological health to allow excellent attendance record (95%). The job requires dependability.Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.Physical DemandsWill be required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, with high level of mental/visual concentrations. Must have good manual dexterity to perform special tests, use telephone, computer, copier for long periods of time. Must be able to hear and communicate with patients and others in person and over the phone.
