CB&I Electrical Construction Field Engineer (#5359 and #5360) in Aiken, South Carolina

Summary:

The Construction Electrical Field Engineer 3 or 4 (Construction Technical Services Specialist II or III) is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day construction electrical activities on the MOX Project. The individual in this role ensures adherence to design basis and quality requirements for all assigned electrical and electrical support installation work. Support for these activities include:

  • Review of Work Packages in planning, working, and closure; assist in Work Package closure
  • Update Work Packages and/or create additional steps for appropriate changes
  • Initiating, reviewing, implementing, and/or dispositioning change requests such as Field Change Notices, Field Change Requests, Nonconformance Reports, Conditioned Reports, and other technical documentation
  • Acquiring and maintaining as-built information for installations
  • Performing field walk-downs and inspections to review work for conformance with design requirements, applicable codes/standards and project procedures
  • Updating schedulers/project controls of work completed
  • Supports Electrical Supervisor and Superintendent by implementing inspection and testing activities
  • Request material transfers and/or material verification from warehouses
  • General coordination with multiple groups across jobsite (craft, design, QC, subcontractors, etc.)
  • Review/interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents
  • Observes and ensures construction practices as required for compliances of construction operations/execution with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements
  • Achieve successful completion of assigned work responsibilities on time
  • Champion the commitment to safety, security, environmental, and quality priorities and values throughout the MOX Project
  • Execute the required duties and activities with no technical direction
  • Review/interpret design drawings for constructability
  • Provide clarifications of drawings, specifications, and other technical documents as necessary to support Construction
  • Coordinating inspection and testing activities
  • Reviews the project schedule and works with the applicable Supervisor and Superintendent, and supports work implementation as required
  • Serve as a resource for training/mentoring colleagues with less experience
  • Serve as a resource and direct supervisor for training/mentoring colleagues with less experience
  • Provide Construction Engineering support to all Superintendents and resolve issues related to Construction Engineering
  • Revise and review revisions to project procedures as needed
  • Cross discipline review of design documents and interface with client, vendor, and other disciplines as required
  • Attend any and all job related meeting as required
  • Report daily, weekly, and/or monthly to Construction Engineering Manager on installed quantities and status
  • Verification of QL-1 and inspection of QL-1LR, QL-2, QL-3, and QL-4 work

Required Qualifications:

To qualify as a CFE3 (Const Tech Svs Spec II):

  • High School Diploma or GED with eleven (11) years' experience in design, fabrication, installation, or inspection in a related construction discipline; OR
  • Associates Degree in Construction management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline with nine (9) years' experience in design, fabrication, installation, or inspection in a related construction discipline; OR
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline or course work toward program with five (5) years' experience in design, fabrication, installation, or inspection in a related construction discipline

To qualify as a CFE4 (Const Tech Svs Spec III):

  • High School Diploma or GED with thirteen (13) years' experience in design, fabrication, installation, or inspection in a related construction discipline; OR
  • Associates Degree in Construction management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline with eleven (11) years' experience in design, fabrication, installation, or inspection in a related construction discipline; OR
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline or course work toward program with seven (7) years' experience in design, fabrication, installation, or inspection in a related construction discipline

Desired Qualifications:

  • Capable of using programs such as AutoCAD or MicroStation, SmartPlant, and/or SupportModeler
  • Prior Nuclear experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Electrical Construction process
  • Working knowledge of other discipline scopes, roles, and responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and other Construction related rules and regulations
  • Strong math aptitude, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Experience in Construction Management, Project Management, and/or supervision
  • Ability to foster a leadership environment that encourages performance, growth, and satisfaction for employees
  • Organization and delegation capabilities
  • Capable of using basic Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Contributes to achievement of team goals; promotes teamwork
  • Working knowledge of the Electrical Construction process
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills --both written and verbal
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic design drawings

  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and appropriate IEEE Standards
